I am trying to learn programming, or how to program video games. I am interested in learning the code rather than creating a spectacular game, although i would like to do both, I am more interested in the coding aspect, getting the game to WORK rather than make it look flashy, I am a function overy style type of guy and would like anyone to give me any information on how I can further my goal of learning programming languages. This will be a full on discussion because I do not know where to start, or where to begin and would love some insight and knowledge on where to start.

I am the type of person to sit at the computer for hours on end, I actually am in front of a computer for 16+ hours a day, 8 to 9 hours a day at work, and then right as soon as I get home. I have no distractions (girlfriend, kids, parents). I have virtually no learning curve, and I am willing to sit and code for hours on end, the only problem like i said is not knowing where to begin.
